The first round of kick-off sessions for the Spaceborne AI Algorithm Rideshare Program 2.0 commenced this July, gaining significant international interest and participation. Approximately 80 individuals from more than three countries joined, indicating a robust start for this innovative initiative.
The diverse group of participants includes students from five Kenyan universities, representatives from the Kenya Space Agency, and members of the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), an esteemed organization with affiliations to both the United Nations and the African Union. Furthermore, the TELNET Satellite Group, a prominent Tunisian company in the field, has also joined the fold.
A highlight of the sessions was the presentation "Next-Gen Satellite: Deploy AI in Space" made by Dr. Kang, the Chief AI Scientist of STAR.VISION. Dr. Kang offered an insightful overview of next-generation satellite technology, diving into the essentials of in-orbit AI, its system integration and real-world applications, and operational procedures of the Program.
The initial session of the Program has obtained an overwhelmingly positive response, characterized by active engagement and a series of probing questions from attendees. Participants showed eager anticipation for the next session and expressed interest in continuing collaboration and learning opportunities in the realm of space-borne AI technology.
